📖 Conjunctions — คำเชื่อมประโยค (Grammar 16)

Conjunction คือคำสำหรับเชื่อมประโยค 2 ประโยคเข้าด้วยกัน แบ่งเป็น 2 ประเภทหลัก:
① Coordinating Conjunction (คำเชื่อมเสมอกัน)
② Subordinating Conjunction (คำเชื่อมไม่เสมอกัน)

1. Coordinating Conjunctions — FANBOYS

Ffor (เพราะ) Aand (และ) Nnor (และก็ไม่) Bbut (แต่) Oor (หรือ) Yyet (แต่กระนั้น) Sso (ดังนั้น)

ตัวอย่าง:
→ She was tired, but she kept working.
→ He studied hard, so he passed the exam.
→ You can take a bus or a taxi.

⚠️ เมื่อเชื่อม 2 ประโยคสมบูรณ์ → ใส่ เครื่องหมายจุลภาค (,) ก่อนคำเชื่อม

2. Subordinating Conjunctions — เชื่อมประโยคหลักกับประโยครอง

คำเชื่อม	ความหมาย/การใช้	ตัวอย่าง
as / because / since	เพราะว่า (เหตุผล)	I'm staying in because it's raining.
although / though / even though	แม้ว่า (ขัดแย้ง)	I will go out although it's raining.
while / as	ขณะที่ (เวลาพร้อมกัน)	I study while you watch TV.
if	ถ้า (เงื่อนไข)	If it rains, I will stay home.
unless	ถ้า...ไม่ (เงื่อนไขปฏิเสธ)	Unless you study, you will fail.
in case	กรณีที่ (ระวังไว้)	Take a jacket in case it rains.
after / before / when / until / as soon as	เวลา (ก่อน/หลัง)	I'll call you as soon as I arrive.

โครงสร้าง:
① Main clause + Subordinating Conjunction + Subordinate clause
② Subordinating Conjunction + Subordinate clause, Main clause (ใส่ , เมื่อขึ้นต้นด้วย Sub.Conj.)

ตัวอย่าง: Because it was raining, we stayed inside. / We stayed inside because it was raining.

3. Correlative Conjunctions — ใช้เป็นคู่

both...andทั้ง...และ | Both Tom and Sue are here. either...orหรือ...หรือ | Either you or I am wrong. neither...norทั้ง...และ...ไม่ | Neither he nor she knows. not only...but alsoไม่เพียงแต่...แต่ยัง | Not only fast but also cheap.
